In April a friend of mine and I travelled to the southern part of Austria and the northern part of Italy, close to the Austrian border. We went to watch the sunset at the ruin Finkenstein, where also an arena is situated, where you can see open air concerts in an amazing atmosphere. The next day we went for a short hike on the Dobratsch mountain, since unfortunately there was still too much for some serious mountaineering. So also on the next day we rather visited than hiked in the Saisera, in Italy.
On the Dobratsch mountain is the church “Maria am Stein”, which is supposed to be Europ’s highest elevated mountain church, built in 1692 already. In the Saisera we found some ruins from old army bases.
