After a number of stressful weeks, I decided to take it easier for a few days, and to finally get some fresh air away from my desktop and computer. With Heidi we went to Ounasjärvi for a nice evening, with some grilling action, fishing and swimming…
The village Hetta is situated on the Northern shore of lake Ounasjärvi, and every trip to the centre reveals a wonderful view over the lake and the fells in the South, that are part of the Pallas-Yllästunturi national park. So, without travelling far, with Heidi we decided to spend a nice evening on the shore of the nearby lake Ounasjärvi, just a bit outside of the village centre, where a nice sand beach is very much inviting for swimming as well as fishing. After collecting some fire wood, we started the evening with grilling some semi-delicious makkara at the beach, before throwing ourselves into the still relatively warm water to summerly enjoy the past days of the ending season. The night already slowly came back, and the twilight later in the evening was also very inviting for doing some fishing. Even though we didn’t catch any larger fish this time, we were still able to get some perches big enough, for having a tasteful lunch the next day, before leaving to a short trip up to Pyhäkero.
But first, here are some impressions from a wonderful evening at one of the sand beaches at lake Ounasjärvi …
