{"id":6002,"date":"2022-05-03T23:44:00","date_gmt":"2022-05-03T20:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gerald-zojer.com\/blog\/?p=6002"},"modified":"2022-05-04T11:56:01","modified_gmt":"2022-05-04T08:56:01","slug":"xc-skiing-in-the-fells-of-pallas-yllastunturi-national-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gerald-zojer.com\/blog\/xc-skiing-in-the-fells-of-pallas-yllastunturi-national-park\/","title":{"rendered":"XC Skiing in the Fells of Pallas-Yll\u00e4stunturi National Park"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Taking advantage of the currently hard snow, I went with my cross country skis off the tracks to the explore the fells on the Enonteki\u00f6 side of the Pallas-Yll\u00e4stunturi national park.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Yesterday some fresh snow arrived, which was great since the last 2 weeks were pretty dry. The snow is still hard, as I reported a couple of days ago, when I went for a <a href=\"\/blog\/cycling-through-the-fells\/\">cycling trip<\/a>. Usually I prefer to ski in winter, rather than cycling (for the latter there is time enough during the snow free season, I think). As much as I enjoyed cycling in the fells, I also felt like I should be here with skis instead. With the fresh snow I couldn&#8217;t resist to take out my skating skis, and more or less follow the same route that I made with the bike earlier this week. Thus, after passing by Sammalvaara, I skied up to Rautuj\u00e4rvi and around Rautuvaara, and on the way back I passed by Sioskuru and followed the Onnasvaara and Ullaj\u00e4rvi skiing tracks. With the fresh snow and the icy surface underneath, skiing seemed rather easy going.
