This led to a proper spring flood this year. Within a few days the temperatures went from great skiing weather to 16\u00b0C during the day. Thus the snow is melting away rapidly. This resulted in very high water levels in most lakes and rivers in the area. The water level in Ounasj\u00e4rvi went close to a 50 years return event, with the level being more than a meter higher than usually at the beginning of June.
