It is now 5 months since last the skiing season ended. About time there is again enough snow to start the new skiing season.

Last X-Country Skiing for the Season: Pyhäkero Again
The snow conditions during this winter have been great, with the thick snow cover still providing plenty of snow. Just a few days ago the snow cover was still between 60cm (south slopes) and 80cm (north slopes) in Hetta, and the ice cover of lake Ounasjärvi still is around 75cm. Yet, according to the weather forecast tonight is the last night with minus degrees and during daytime the thermometer is expected to rise above 10°C. Thus the snow might disappear fast now. Considering this forecast today I went for my (most likely) final x-country skiing trip this season. Like yesterday I skied up the summer hiking trail to the summit of Pyhäkero.
