With a friend we decided to go for a short skiing trip into the Pallas-Yllästunturi national park. Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent travel restrictions, there are only few tourists in the area. A unique chance to be in the national park during the main season, without it being overcrowded with tourists.

Towards the end of the polar night, and after the skiing trip to Pöyrisjärvi, with my friend we decided to go for another ski hike. This time we planned to ski toward the south. On this trip I came close to seeing the sun again, after several weeks of its absence.

While this winter started early and with low temperatures, the season soon turned more mild than average, bringing lots of snow. A suitable condition for a skiing trip to Pöyrisjärvi, to enjoy the wonderful lights of the polar night.

Last weekend finally the first snow arrived. While it did not last long down in the valley, up on Pyhäkero fjell the snow stayed. Today in the afternoon I went for a short bike ride, just before sunset, and captured a few moments with the camera of my phone ..
