Yesterdays snowfall has brought the first snow cover for this year. While I don’t expect the snow yet to last, I wanted to take advantage and ride my fat bike up on Pyhäkero ..
The weather forecast predicted a clear sky, and there was also a promising northern lights forecast. Thus, with Heidi we decided to cycle to Pöyrisjärvi, and spent Friday night at the open wilderness hut.
After the relaxing cycling trip two weeks ago, I wanted to once again take my bike and head into the Pöyrisjärvi Wilderness Area. And pretty much as two weeks before the aim was to do some camping and fishing – just this time at lake Retkajärvi.
With the good memories on the area around the lakes Maattojärvet in the Pöyrisjärvi Wilderness Area from last autumn, with a friend we decided to go there over a weekend for some fishing.
Since about one week the landscape here is covered with about ten centimeters of snow, thus also the Pyhäkero fell shines with its white cover over the lake Ounasjärvi. Because of the little snow coverage it is still possible to cycle, so I took my bike and went for a short trip to reach the summit of the white Pyhäkero.
